Awakening people to their fullness in Jesus in Hawai’i and the nations

Our Story

Learn a bit of how the Andersonʻs got into missions and what they are doing now.

What is YWAM?

Brooke and Bryce Anderson are missionaries with Youth With A Mission, an ever-expanding global “family of ministries” born in 1960 which has reached into every nation on earth.

As a missions movement, YWAM encompasses evangelism, training and mercy ministries. It is manned by tens of thousands of full-time staff from 200+ countries and a wide variety of denominations and Christian traditions who serve at more than 2,000 YWAM locations in 191 nations.

Some five million participants have served in YWAM programs as students, short-term volunteers and full-time staff since its inception. YWAM is impacting the nations for Jesus on a massive scale. YWAMʻs largest training base is in Kona, Hawai’i where the Andersonʻs serve.

Why Hawai’i?

At one point, the largest church in the world was on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.

God has moved powerfully here before and we believe He is doing it again. God has led our family to come and serve the move of God here in the Pacific and to be apart of Youth With A Mission‘s largest base as we train and send missionaries all over the earth.

Global Impact

YWAM’s largest training base is in Kona, Hawaii. YWAM Kona has trained over 50,000 students of the 5 million that have come through YWAM.

We have the opportunity to directly impact about 1200 people every year. The photo above shows our Plaza of Nations with flags from the 30–50 different nations represented on the base. After 3 months of training in Kona, small teams are sent to 30-50 nations year round. They are impacting the world for Jesus.

Though we travel often, it’s wild to think that we are impacting the nations whether or not we leave Kona. I (Bryce) have had students come back from outreach saying different countries they played or worshipped with my songs. What an honor!

Student’s lives are being radically transformed, as well as the nations they are sent to. Recently in just one Discipleship Training School, the outreaches had phenomenal fruit including:

  • 40,701 salvations
  • 3,758 healings
  • 2,000 hours of intercession
  • 114,305 seeds sown
Personal Calling

Brooke’s family is from Hawai’i and she was born here as well. The rich history of God’s move and transformation is one we know we are meant to be apart og.

Over the years God has continued to give us a passion to see this land be all that it’s mean to be in Him. That the aloha of Jesus would be the fragrance of the land.

Currently Bryce is learning the Hawaiian language which was nearly extinct. Brooke helps lead a local performing arts academy focusing on Pacific Island dance.

Miraculous History

The Big Island was home to to one of the worldʻs greatest revivals in the mid 1800ʻs. The largest church in the world at that time was on this island. The population

Henry Opukahaia was one of the first native Hawaiian Christians. As a youth, he ended up on a merchant ship that had stopped in Hawaiʻi and ended up in New England. He got saved, translated the Bible in Hawaiian and shared his burden for his people with his new friends. Though he died at the age of 26 from sickness, his friends took the gospel to Hawaiʻi where the royalty and nearly 80% of the Hawaiian islands received the good news. God moved mightily in Hawaii for many years. There has been great glory and also great pain.

In the 1970’s the Lord clearly led a group of YWAM leaders to the Big Island of Hawaii. Here they started the University of the Nations which now has locations around the world. These islands are a bridge from the Americas to Oceania and Asia and now serves as a place for young people to be trained and sent to share Jesus.

Partner

As full-time volunteer missionaries, we rely on partnership with others as our income. We have and continue to build a partnership team that would not only participate financially, but also by covering our ministry in prayer.

We love to celebrate and enjoy together the amazing fruit and testimony that God is doing all over the world!
